Gameplay

Berzerk puts the player in control of the last survivor of a small group of earthlings on the planet Mazeon. The humanoid is placed inside an electrified maze, and must progress through as many rooms as possible by exiting each maze alive.

Mazes are occupied by up to 11 synthetic robots that can shoot and move towards the player. Aim the player in the direction of a robot using the joystick and press the fire button to shoot in the direction you are facing.

Make sure you dodge any incoming shots from robots and avoid touching the walls, or you’ll lose a life!

When losing a life, the player is transported to a different maze. You start the game with three lives.

Enemy Types

Robots
The main enemy, spawning in groups of 1-11 in each maze. Robots move towards the player, firing shots in the direction they are facing periodically.
As the player’s score increases, the robots move quicker and shoot more frequently.
Evil Otto
Evil Otto appears when a player has lurked too long inside the current maze. He cannot be killed, and will chase the player around the level from where he appeared. He can jump over walls and is not electrocuted by them. The only way to escape Evil Otto is to leave the level you are currently through an exit

Scoring

Each robot that is destroyed is worth 50 points. If a whole maze is cleared of robots before leaving it, the player receives a bonus of 10 points for each robot that was in the maze.

A bonus life is given to the player for every 5000 points.
