USB Keyboard Keys
Cursor keys
On an original Atari400 keyboard the keys labeled with arrows will produce cursor movement when pressed
with the CTRL
key, and the symbols +
, .
, _
or =
otherwise. A modern USB keyboard has
dedicated cursor keys, so when connected to THE400-Mini the operation of the cursor keys is reversed, so that
they produce cursor movement when pressed without the CTRL
key and symbols when pressed with the CTRL
key.

Cassette playlist support
A playlist makes choosing multi-cassette and multi-disk games a quick single button press and avoids issues with miss-selecting files, and are required for games having more than a single cassette or more than three disks.
This firmware update allows playlists to contain cassette cas
files in addition to disk files, and they can even be
mixed if you have a need to do so, though you will have to remember which entry in the playlist is a disk or cassette.
Note: A playlist can contain
cas
files only if it is manually created.
On switching a cassette file THE400-Mini will ensure that it is fully rewound.
Please read the full instructions for playlist support in the user manual.
Booting a cassette from a playlist
When running a cassette program by launching its playlist or switching to a cassette in a playlist, THE400-Mini will
switch to using the selected cassette image, leaving you or the program to execute the appropriate LOAD
command as necessary.
In some circumstances however, you might want THE400-Mini to instead boot a cassette within the playlist.
To boot a cassette within a playlist, switch to the required cassette, press and hold Start
and while doing that,
press and release Hard Reset
.
Start
and Hard Reset
can be mapped to joystick buttons if required.
