Corrects the speed of Amiga 500 WHDLoad games

Machine type detection has been improved in this relases, so THEA500 Mini more accurately chooses the correct type for WHDLoad lha files, resulting in them running at the correct speed.

Note: If you have applied any configuration workarounds of your own in the past to resolve this issue on a game-by-game basis, you may need to remove them for this new automatic type detection to work correctly.

Creating custom controller configuations

This feature allows you to reconfigure your game controller or joystick so you can change button assignments to suit your needs, or provide a configuration for a controller that does not work properly with THEA500, so long as it is compatible.

THEA500 Mini will look on the inserted USB stick for a file named gamecontrollerdb.txt, and will search within it for configuration entries that match your connected controllers and joysticks. If it finds an entry, it will use that instead of its internal configuration/

Full details about the content of this file, and some pointers towards tools to help you create configuration entries can be found here. These configuration files are used by many systems, and there is pleanty of help and documentation available on the web. Because each situation will be unique, it is not possible for Retro Games Ltd to offer any individual help with creating controller configurations.

Please note that the gamecontrollerdb.txt file can contain Linux, Mac and Windows configuations and that THEA500 Mini will only read Linux game controller configuations.

It is advisable to keep the gamecontrollerdb.txt file on the USB stick as small as possible and only contain the Linux entries for the controllers you wish to modify.

THEJoystick and THEGamepad configuration

If you want to modify the Retro Games controller and joystick configurations, the default gamecontrollerdb.txt entries are:

Using a second controller with ADF files

The previous firmware version would not handle second controllers correctly with ADF files, which included swapping between joysticks mid-game. This has been fixed in this release.

To correct the controllers for an ADF file, once selected in Media access, enter the Game settings menu and reconfigure Joystick ports 1 and 2.
